The Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has assured that no segment in the state will be marginalized by his government.

Governor Makinde gave the assurance at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba during the celebration of 1441 Hijrah Grand Rally organized by the National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations (NACOMYO) to mark the beginning of Muslim calendar year.

Reacting to questions raised by the youth organization, NACOMYO over the appointment of commissioners, Governor Seyi Makinde, who was represented at the event by his Deputy, Engr. AbdulRauf Olaniyan stated that the governor remains committed to fulfill all his electioneering campaign promises to all groups irrespective of religion in the state.

He assured them that all necessary adjustments will be made in subsequent appointments to balance the equation.

NACOMYO state Coordinator, Alhaji Dawood Afolabi had earlier questioned the governor over the appointment of commissioners, alleging that Governor Makinde has marginalized Muslims having allotted 12 positions to Christians against five he allotted to Muslims out of the 17 available slots.

Governor Makinde, while congratulating Muslim brothers and sisters all over the state on the occasion of annual celebration of Hijrah 1441, he implored them to use the occasion to continue to promote peace and harmony among the people irrespective of religion, ethnic and tribe sentiment in the state.

Makinde therefore, called on Muslims to join hands with his government to move the state forward, adding that it is pertinent for them speak with one voice to champion their cause and ensure the progress of Islam in the state.

In his goodwill message at the event, the Aare Musulumi of Yoruba land, Edo and Delta States, Alhaji Dawud Akinola, charged Muslims to maintain peaceful coexistence among Muslims and non-Muslims with the purpose of propagating Islam.

He congratulated all Muslims in the state and beyond as well as NOCOMYO members on the occasion of Hijrah urging them not to relent in spreading the gospel as mandated by Prophet Mohammed.

In his sermon with the theme, ‘The Wave of Violent Crimes and Insecurity in Nigeria-Muslim On Call’, Imam Tirmidhi Ishola attributed increase in the rate of crime and insecurity to the government and the people.

He identified lack of fairness and equity from the side of government and disobedience to the will of God and tribal sentiment from the side of the people as factors responsible for prevailing insecurity.

The state Coordinator of NACOMYO, Dawood Afolabi, in his welcome address, commended the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for dropping salaries of state’s workers on 25th as promised during his campaign.
