Fans of the London Club, Chelsea FC in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, emerged winner at Rep Your Club Jersey Challenge, an event held over the weekend inside the main bowl of the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium.
The event is an annual show according to Tunde Olawuwo of Splash FM Ibadan who conceptualized the event themed around football and entertainment with the idea to celebrate fans’ loyalty and passion in supporting their various clubs through thick and thin.
“Even though it had run over several years, it took this present form in 2015 and hasn’t looked back since then, as you can see how football lovers are here in large numbers with joy on their faces wearing the jerseys of their choice clubs”, Olawuwo, the General Manager, news of Splash FM Radio noted.
Fuji sensation, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma who also clad in his Arsenal home jersey led other top entertainers such as Q’dot, Woli Agba and some popular Ibadan based Yoruba Sports presenters, including Babatunde Saheed of Fresh FM, Olawale Hamzat and his crew: Abdul Baaki Balogun, Korede Yusuf, Ayotunde Olateju.
The real estate giant, Revolution Plus, Betking, Coca Cola and Jumia were among the corporate outfits that supported the biggest jersey party in the Southwest of the country which had more than five thousand football lovers in their club’s jerseys present.
At the end of the exciting show, Hon. Dapo Lam-Adesina presented the crown to the Chelsea fans that recorded the highest numbers of fans while supporters of FC Barcelona came second, the process that was determined by the inventories taken as the fans were entering the arena.
