We’ll Ensure Our People Get Dividends Of Democracy – Oyo Speaker Assures Constituents

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has assured the people of his constituency in Ibarapa East that all measures to ensure that dividends of democracy reaches the nooks and crannies of the constituency will be accommodated in the 2020 budget of the state.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to making laws that will improve the standard of living of the people of the state in general a top priority.

Hon. Ogundoyin gave the assurance at a town hall meeting organized by the Oyo State National Orientation Agency held at Eruwa Town Hall during the week.

The Speaker said his fundamental duties as a lawmaker and speaker for the state is to enact laws that will contribute positively to the lives of the people.

Hon. Ogundoyin, while reeling out his achievement within the four months of his inauguration, said that the bill on Open Grazing Regulation 2019 he sponsored would be passed to law before the end of the month.

He expressed his readiness to champion the revamping of Ibarapa Polytechnic, Lanlate College of Education and other state owned tertiary institutions to rank among the best in the world.

The Speaker said Oyo state government would soon distribute over fifty thousand desks and chairs to schools across the state as part of effort to improve education.

The Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adegbola said though expectations of the people from the Speaker are high because of his antecedents, he urged the constituents to continue to pray for the successful tenure of the present administration.

The Convener of the programme, Oyo state director, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs. Dolapo Dosunmu said one of the purposes of the programme was to clear all the wrong perceptions about duties and expectations of legislators.

Mrs. Dosunmu explained that the meeting will update the knowledge of the constituents about the activities of government and enable them to have their say to bring about meaningful development.
