Day Olatunde Ashaolu Became Gbobaniyi Of Efon Alaye Kingdom

The traditional ruler of Efon Alaaye Kingdom in Ekiti State, Oba (Dr.) Emmanuel Adesanya Aladejare has conferred the chieftaincy title of Gbobaniyi of Efon Alaaye on one of the prominent sons of the Kingdom,  Chief Olatunde Ashaolu.

The installation of the chieftaincy title which was conducted in his palace at Efon Alaaye witnessed the presence of important dignitaries across all sectors of life.

The honour bestowed on Chief Ashaolu according to His Royal Highness, is to appreciate and recognise his numerous contributions to the growth and development of Efon Alaaye Kingdom.

In his address, shortly after the conferment of the title, Oba Emmanuel Aladejare said that it has become a custom of the Kingdom to honour its sons and daughters who have contributed immensely to the development of Efon Alaaye Kingdom.

He disclosed that Chief Olatunde Ashaolu, who is the new Gbobaniyi of Efon Kingdom deserves the honour, considering his continuous support and patriotism towards the Efon Alaaye project.

The monarch further noted that apart from the beautiful edifices he has been able to erect in the community, his contributions to the foundation laying of the new Palace Project was another major feat he sacrificed for the Efon Community.

According to Oba Aladejare, “for the past five years, he has been giving bursaries and scholarships to deserving students in the community to encourage them to further their education.”

The monarch used the opportunity to call on other well to do sons and daughters of the community to take a clue from the good and philanthropic gestures of Chief Olatunde Ashaolu, the Gbobaniyi of Efon Kingdom to move the community forward.

While addressing guests at Emirate Event Centre, venue of the reception, Chief Jacob Oke Elekolusi, the former Deputy Director General, Radio Nigeria, who was also the Chairman at the occasion attested to the contributions of Chief Olatunde Ashaolu to the growth of Efon Community.

Chief Elekolusi stated that the significance of the chieftaincy title conferred on Chief Olatunde Ashaolu is to rededicate himself and put more commitments towards the development of Efon projects.

“Olatunde Ashaolu is not only humble, he shares his wealth and experiences with everybody such as children, women, widows and everybody. He doesn’t consider his wealth as something personal. He is a very kind and humble person and an embodiment of everything that is good in life.

“His immense contributions to development is unrivaled. As the Treasurer for the palace project, he has committed more than N4 million to the development of the palace as a single individual. So, you can see the urge to help others in him. He is also willing to help others and be a friend to them always,” he submitted.

While speaking with journalists, the newly installed Gbobaniyi of Efon Alaaye Kingdom, Chief Olatunde Ashaolu thanked the royal father of Efon Alaaye Kingdom for his generosity, as well as his well wishers for their presence.

He expressed his satisfaction with the conferment of the chieftaincy title bestowed on him by the Alaaye of Efon Kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Emmanuel Adesanya Aladejare.

Chief Olatunde Ashaolu, the Gbobaniyi of Efon Kingdom indicated that he was born in England by Pa Daniel Adedayo Ashaolu and Mrs. Lydia Anike Ashaolu (Nee Olajuyigbe). He had his university education at the prestigious University of Lagos (UNILAG) between 1985 and 1989 where he graduated from the Institution’s College of Medicine.

His Secondary School Education was at the University of Lagos Staff School and his Primary School Education at Surulere Primary School, Lagos between 1972 and 1978. He attended the Federal Government College in Lagos between 1978 to 1984 for his GCE Ordinary and his Advanced levels.

He is a qualified Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA) and was admitted as a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) in 1997. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Global and a member of the Chartered Institute of Global Managements Accountants (CGMA). He has since worked as an Accountant and senior financial analyst with a number of organizations in the United Kingdom including the National Health Service and the British Museum before incorporating his accountancy firm and consultancy practices in the United Kingdom.

Chief Olatunde Ashaolu is presently the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Olatunde Ashaolu & Co (Chartered Accountants and Tax Advisors); Corporate Strategy Consultants Ltd (Business Advisory and Management Consultants as well as that of the Consolidated Oil and Gas Ltd. He is the founder of Daniel Adedayo Ashaolu Memorial  Foundation, an educational charity organization established to support students in Efon Alaaye in honour and memory of his late father.
