How APC Swept Ekiti Local Government Polls

As expected by political observers, the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has won all the Chairmanship and Councillor-ship seats in the local council elections that the results were announced on Sunday.

In its reaction, the opposition, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) said the outcome of the election has called for its outright cancellation and a seven days mourning in the state following the death of a voter at Ikere Ekiti on the election day on Saturday.

The Chairman of the Ekiti State Electoral Commission (EKSIEC), Honourable Justice Jide Aladejana has officially announced the results of the Local Government held on Saturday December 7th, 2019 in the Sixteen local government areas of the State.

Justice Aladejana made the announcement On Sunday morning at the Headquarters of the Ekiti State Electoral Commission in Ado Ekiti. His official announcement followed the open and public presentations of the election results for the various 16LGAs by the respective Electoral  and Returning Officers officially assigned and appointed to do so by the Commission.

After the submission of the election results for each of the 16 local government areas of the State to the EKSIEC Chairman by the Returning Officers; the Chairmanship Candidates of the All Progressive Congress were formally declared the winners.

Honourable Mrs. Omotunde Fajuyi won in Ado local government area; Engineer Adetunji Bode Stephen for Efon LGA; Honourable Ogunjobi Esan for Ekiti East; Honourable Kreem Agunbiade for Ekiti West; Honourable Kola Admire for Ekiti Southwest; Honourable Awopetu  Paul Oludare for Emure; Honourable Fadunmiye Ayodele for Gbonyin and Honourable Areola Ayodimeji Lawrence for Ido – Osi.

Others are Honourable Ropo Ige for Ijero; Honourable Olufemi Ayodele for Ikere Ekiti; Honourable Sola Oominu; Honourable Akinola Oladunjoye for Ilejemeje; Honourable Ogunleye Olawale Sina for Irepodun/Ifelodun; Honourable Alabi Olarewaju Moses for Ise – Orun; Honourable Aborisade Michael Adebayo for Moba and Honourable Foluso James for Oye.

Speaking with reporters after the announcements of results and declaration of the election winners, Justice Aladejana expressed appreciation to Governor Kayode Fayemi for the support given the Commission and for not interfering in the electoral process that produced the newly elected local government Chairmen for the 16 local government areas of the State.

Justice Aladejana also commended the efforts of the all the security agencies in the state for ensuring strict compliance to the rules and regulations guiding the conduct of the election on Saturday.
