Day Lagelu Grammar School Ibadan’s Old Boys Elected Justice Adegbola Adeniyi As New National President

History was made on December 7, 2019 when Lagelu Grammar School Old Boys Association elected a new crop of National Executives led by Justice Adegbola Adeniyi, a Federal High Court Judge based in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

The LAGSOBA Electoral Committee under the Chairmanship of Alhaji Lagelite Wale Akinpelu had perfected all plans to organize a credible, free and fair elections earlier. The Committee did not leave any stone unturned towards making the day historic.

The electoral process started with the manifestoes from all the aspirants; after which the casting of votes started. It was so orderly, credible, free and fair as attested to by the Chairman, LAGSOBA Board of Trustees, Grand Distinguished Lagelite Sir Col. Adebola Ogunsanwo (Rtd.). Votes were counted while results were announced by the Chairman, LAGSOBA Electoral Committee, Alh. Lagelite Wale Akinpelu.

The elected officers included:

  1. Hon. Justice Olukayode Adegbola Adeniyi – National President
  2. Tpl. Dr. Kamorudeen Durodola Ogunsesan, DL – 1st National Vice President
  3. Pastor Sunday Oyebola – 2nd National Vice President
  4. Yemi Abdul-Waheed Badru- National General Secretary
  5. Moses Oladele Peter- Ass. National General Secretary
  6. Oluleye Johnson Adeniran – National Public Relations Officer
  7. Isreal Ayobami Ogunremi- Asst. National Public Relations Officer
  8. Aremo Ejilola Sefiu – National Welfare Officer
  9. Itunu Bayo Ojo – National Financial Secretary
  10. Adebisi Adekunle, JP – National Treasurer
  11. Ayodeji Oyewole Oyedeji – National Social Secretary
  12. Akintunde Yusuf Akinloye – National Chief Whip
  13. James Bankole Oyewole- National Auditor

They were subsequently sworn-in by the Chairman, BOT, Grand Distinguished Lagelite Sir Col. Bola Ogunsanwo for a period of two (2) years commencing from January 1, 2020 till December 31, 2021.

In his speech, the out-going National President, Grand Distinguished Lagelite Prof. Chief Olufemi Omisore, FNITP, JP thanked all members of the association for the support he enjoyed throughout his tenure as the National President. He highlighted some of his administration’s achievements which he attributed to the support by all and sundry. He charged the new executive to build on these achievements and consolidate on them.

In his own acceptance speech, the new national president urged all members of the association to continue to relate like a family.

He also announced that together with his Exco, efforts will be made to encourage more old boys who, for one reason or the other, have not been playing active roles in the affairs of the association.

His words “we will cooperate with elders of the association, the school authorities, the state government and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that our alma mater attains the greatest heights.”

The ceremony had in attendance eminent old boys from all walks of life.
