Fayemi Bags Pensioner Friendly Award From Ekiti NUP

Dr Kayode Fayemi, the governor of Ekiti State has been described as pensioner-friendly for putting smiles on the faces of the pensioners since his assumption of office.

The Teaching Service Commission Chairman, Hon Babatunde Abegunde said this in Ado at the 3rd anniversary and end of the year fiesta of the

Association of Eminent Retired Principals of Secondary Schools, Ekiti State chapter.

Hon Abegunde who received the Pensioners Friendly Award on behalf of the Governor of Ekiti State, said that the Governor really merited the award for the various landmark achievements of his administration since inception, especially for the pensioners and in the educational sector.

The Chairman highlighted some of the achievements to include the setting aside of N100M monthly instead of the former N10M to settle outstanding gratuities, regular payment of pension, approval of workers promotion, the ongoing recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff to narrow the wide gap of available vacancies amongst others.

Tescom Boss who noted that the Governor is leaving behind good legacies; having received numerous awards in this dispensation acknowledged that the pensioner-friendly award was not by accident for an ever progressive Governor.

In his welcome speech, the Chairman of Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Ekiti State Chapter Elder Ayo Kumapayi lauded Governor Fayemi on his giant strides in moving Ekiti State forward.

Elder Kumapayi explained the significance of the programme as an opportunity to advise members, relax together and present awards to deserving members.

He therefore on behalf of the Pensioners pledged his unalloyed support and maximum cooperation to the present administration.

A health practitioner who is also a Matron at Ekiti State Teaching Hospital, Mrs. Bola Ogundare, who spoke on the Health Challenges of Sixty Years Old Plus, Management and Prevention highlighted the various common diseases prone to old age to include: hypertension, diabetes, cancer, depression and hosts of others. She also enumerated numerous ways to prevent or minimise them.
