Five Suspects Paraded Over Robbery, Kidnapping Cases By Oyo Police Command

The Oyo State Police Command  has paraded five suspects in connection with robbery, kidnapping and cattle rustling.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Shina Olukolu, while briefing Journalists at Command Headquarters, Eleyele in Ibadan, disclosed that the suspects were arrested in the Ogbomoso section of the state.

He said that their arrest was based on the information received by the men of the State Anti Robbery Squad (SARS).

Mr. Olukolu, who identified the suspects as, Abubakar Mohammed, 27, Babuga Usman, 42, Rasheed Ganiyu 48, (Criminal Receiver), Taofeek Salawu, 37, (Criminal Receiver), and Abiodun Kehinde, 33, (Criminal Receiver).

He disclosed that the suspects were sighted with sophisticated weapons in their possessions in Ogbomoso town, planning to carry out their nefarious criminal activities at one of the markets within the town.

According to him, “Upon this information, a team of the SARS Operatives from the command swung into action and laid seige at the new Kara Market area, where they had intended to attack, rob and kidnap members of the business community.

“The suspects later arrived at the scene and in the process, one of them, identified as Abubakar Mohammed was arrested while other members of the group managed to escape.

“During interrogation, he confessed to be a member of a criminal gang that specialized in cattle rustling, kidnapping and other violent crimes in the town. He later confessed other member of the group, Babuga Usman and three others that are criminal receivers,” CP Olukolu concluded.

He listed one AK-49 riffle with seven live ammunition as part of the items recovered from the suspects.
