A total of 688 new Students were, Thursday, officially inducted into the College of Health Sciences and Technology at Ijero Ekiti for the 2019/2020 Academic Year.
The matriculation Ceremony was the 9th since the establishment of the Academic Health Institution in the State.
Addressing the new Students at the 9th Matriculation Ceremony of the College on Thursday morning, the Sole Administrator of the Institution, Mrs. Folakemi Falore welcomed the new intakes into the Health Institution.
She advised them to be ready to learn as they have been admitted into the school’s various Departments as provided in the College’s curriculum.
The Institution’s Sole Administrator enjoined the new students to ensure they maintain the status of the Health and Science Technology Institution which its past administrators worked very hard to earn over the years.
She urged the new students to confirm themselves as being adequately efficient and orderly to enable them join others already in the Health Sector to take care of the health challenges of the people of Ekiti State and Nigeria at large.
She went further to implore the new students to also make efforts to move the health sector in Nigeria forward.
Said Falore “As health sector practitioners, we are not mean people. We are honourable people. You should all honour the clarion call to reposition the health sector in Nigeria especially at the primary health care level”.
She prayed to God to help the new students to carry out the enormous tasks ahead of them.
Falore used the opportunity to commend the efforts of the Ijero Ekiti Community and their Traditional Institution; the Principal Officers as well as the Academic and Non-Academic Management and Staff of the Health Institution for their willingness and commitment to ensure the actualization of the vision and the goals of the citadel of learning.
She also appreciated the efforts and contributions of the Ekiti State Coordinator for the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Mr. AbdulHameed Hakeem to the Health Institution. She praised parents for sponsoring their children to the Health Institution.
Also speaking at the 9th Matriculation Ceremony, the Registrar of the School, Mrs. Ogunsakin C.A. educated the new students on the essence of Matriculation. She stated that the Matriculation is an epoch making event where the new students have the unique opportunity to get familiar with the Principal Officers of the Institution.
She said the Matriculation Ceremony is also an opportunity for new students to listen to pieces of advice that will help them during the course of their studies on the campus. She charged them to be responsible students of the Institution.
The College’s Registrar told them to always be disciplined in their day-to-day conduct on the campus. She equally advised parents to pay their children’s school fees as those who refuse to pay will not be allowed to stay in school.
She added “Parents also should always make sure that their children shun all aspects of indiscipline like being involved in cultism and other unwholesome activities while in the school.
Present at the 9th Matriculation Ceremony included the Ajero Of Ijero Ekiti, Oba Joseph Adewole and his Olori; the Ajero Traditional Council Members as well as the State Coordinator of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Ekiti State, Mr. AbdulHameed Hakeem among others.
