Completion Of Neighhood Markets: Fayemi Releases Fund

0

Dr Kayode Fayemi’s government in Ekiti State has approved the release of the necessary fund for the completion of the abandoned neighbourhood markets across the sixteen (16) Local Governments in the State.

Towards this end, contractors handling the projects across the sixteen (16) councils have been directed to go back to work without delay.

The State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Prof. Adio Folayan, who stated this in Ado-Ekiti, remarked that the move was part of the Governor Fayemi administration’s efforts to boost socio-economic activities in the State.

Prof. Folayan reiterated the commitment of the State Government to the economic transformation of the State by providing an enabling environment for business to thrive in all the communities.

He said that the neighbourhood markets were geared towards improving business activities in the State thereby improving the socio-economic activities and economic status of traders and market women at the grassroots.

The Local Government Commissioner enjoined the contractors handling the neighbourhood market projects to work according to specification.

It would be recalled that the neighbourhood market was initiated by the Fayemi administration in his first term but was abandoned by the Fayose administration.

Prof. Adio Folayan also advised contractors in the local government areas to obtain their Advance Payment Guarantee (APG) which will qualify them to access the release of fund to them for the completion of the markets.
