Oldest Practicing Journalist, Prof Aderibigbe Turns 95, To Be Celebrated By Oyo NUJ

The leadership and members of the Oyo State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) are putting finishing touches to plans to celebrate Professor Adeyemi Aderibigbe, the presumed oldest practicing journalist in Nigeria as he turns 95.

PMParrot can confirm that the respected ‘pen pusher’ will be hosting his colleagues at the Owu Crown Hotel, Monatan, Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State on Tuesday by 1 pm.

Sources informed that a special morning prayer will be hosted by Professor Aderibigbe on the same day at his residence in Monatan, in the same city.

While reacting to this arrangement, Comrade Ademola Babalola, the Chairman of Oyo NUJ appealed to all members of the union to make themselves available at the agreed venue to celebrate the ‘teacher of teachers of Journalism’ in Nigeria.

It was also gathered that the chairman of the occasion is His Royal Highness, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, the Towulade of Akinale.

Aderibigbe was a cub reporter with late Nnamdi Azikwe’s West African Pilot. He also had a brief stint a the defunct Daily Express. He is from Ile-Ife, Osun State.
