The Chairman of Efon Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Engineer Olabode Adetunji during the week presented a total budget of N700 million to the Legislative Council of the one-town local government area in the State.
While addressing the legislative members at the local government secretariat on Wednesday in Efon Alaaye, Adetunji christened the year’s 2020 budget as ‘A Budget Of Sustaining And Restoring The Values Of The Local Government Area’.
He appealed to the Members of the House to act fast on the draft bill presented before them to hasten the discharge of his duties.
Adetunji assured Efon people that as soon as the budget is passed into law and assented to by him, the people should be rest assured it would be implemented to the letter. He expressed the optimism that the budget, when implemented, would put smiles on the faces of the good people of Efon Local Government Area.
When giving the details of the budget for the year 2020, Adetunji explained that the budget draft estimate is put at a total of N2,273,265,186.97 with a Total Recurrent Expenditure (Personal Cost) of N1,584,243,237.61 representing 69.69% while the Capital Expenditure is estimated at a total sum of N689,021,949.46 representing 30.31%.
Equally, the Administrative Sector will gulp a total sum of N67,425,000.00 (sixty-seven million, four hundred and twenty five thousand) representing 9.78%; a sum of N426,946,949.36 would take charge of the Economic Sector at 61.96%. The Social Sector expenses is also put at N194,650,000.00 (one hundred and ninety four million, six hundred and fifty thousand) at 28.25%.
The Local Government Chairman promised to do his utmost best to provide a better socio-economic environment for the unemployed youths and equally cater for the welfare of the people as much as possible within the ambit of the available funds in the care of the local government area.
He went ahead to use the opportunity to point out that the realization of the goals would depend largely on the availability of funds and pleaded with the entire citizens of Efon Alaaye Kingdom to cooperate with his administration by paying their taxes regularly.
