All Set For Prince Ojo Oluwadamilare Omobire To Be Enthroned As Olomu Of Ilomu Ekiti

Preparations are in top gear as the Olomu of Ilomu Ekiti in Irepodun /Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Prince Ojo Oluwadamilare Omobire gets set to be enthroned as the next Oba of the new autonomous Community.

Prince Ojo Oluwadamilare Omobire Iluku’s nomination as the newest Olomu of Ilomu Ekiti Kingdom by the Kingmakers of Ilomu Ekiti was ratified and approved at the State Executive Council Meeting presided over by Governor Kayode Fayemi last week.

According to the press release signed and sent to PMParrot by the Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation in Ekiti State, Aare Muyiwa Olomilua recently; it revealed that “the State Executive Council has approved the appointment of Prince Ojo Oluwadamilare Omobire of the Iluku Ruling House in Ilomu Ekiti as the new Ajagungbade 2 of Ilomu-Ekiti, following his nomination by the Kingmakers”.

Giving an account of how the new Ilomu Ekiti Oba emerged on Monday, the Head of the Kingmaker’s in Ilomu Ekiti Kingdom, Chief J.O. Akinwunmi said “that Prince Ojo Oluwadamilare Omobire defeated seven other contestants who went into the royal contest from the Iluku Ruling House on 19th March, 2020. He maintained that Prince Ojo Oluwadamilare Omobire was duly selected after due consultations with the Ifa oracle in line with the customs of the ancient town and as officially communicated by the Ekiti State Government in consonance to the 1961 Chieftaincy Declaration law”.

Also, while responding to questions from PMParrot on Monday, the Oba-elect, Prince Ojo Oluwadamilare Omobire from the Iluku Ruling House, revealed that he was born about 40 years ago in Ilomu Ekiti to the family of Prince Simon Iluku and Late Tomilola Iluku (Nee Fakuade).

Speaking further, the Oba-elect said “I attended Baptist Primary School in Esure Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State between 1988 to 1994. After that, I proceeded for my Secondary School Education at the Ilupeju High School in Ilupeju Ekiti. Thereafter, I had my Ordinary National Diploma (OND) at the Kwara State Polytechnic and my Higher National Diploma (HND) at the Yaba College of Technology where l studied Business Administration.

The Oba-elect explained further that he has been engaged in several establishments in the past such as the Etus Group of Companies located at the Alaba International Market, Ojo in Lagos as a Warehouse Manager between the year 2011 and 2012;

Safe Trip Transport Limited in Lagos State as Assistant Accountant between the year 2012 and 2013; as well as the LBSL (Lagos Bus Service Management) in Lagos State.

Prince Ojo Oluwadamilare Omobire, has also travelled wide and near globally and he is well exposed.

He is happily married to Opeyemi. F. Iluku and their marriage is blessed with two children.

The Oba-elect while appreciating the Almighty God, acknowledged that He is the beginning and the end and to whom we shall give account of our stewardship.

He also thanked the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and his Deputy, Otunba Chief Bisi Egbeyemi; the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Chieftaincy and his team, as well as Honourable Shina Ogunleye, the Executive Chairman of Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government and his team for not politicising the issue of the vacant stool of Olomu of Ilomu.

The Oba-elect commended all the Ilomu Ekiti Kingmakers for not being biased in the course of discharging their constitutional and traditional obligation and for their steadfastness in the process of choosing the Olomu of Ilomu. He also thanked all Ilomu indigenes both home and abroad.

While appreciating the Iluku Ruling House, he urged all members to work together as a team and see his selection as a call to service.

In the same vein, the current Regent of Ilomu Ekiti, Princess Adepoju Foyeke while interacting with PMParrot Correspondent in Ado Ekiti on Monday, disclosed that “what brought me to the Regent position was when my father departed from this world. After the demise of my father, the Traditional Leaders of Ilomu Ekiti consulted the Ifa Oracle and came up that I as the last born of our family of four was the one who has been elected to occupy the Regent position”.

Giving her experience, Princess Adepoju Foyeke explained “that on her first day on the throne after she was installed as the Regent, and was told to address the Chiefs, the youths and the people of the community; I was afraid to talk to them; I was only crying. It was at that stage that I was told to stop and not talk again, that next time, I will be able to speak well. That was the first time of speaking to my community people”.

“Since I came on board as the Regent on February 5th, 2019; I have been able to bring about some few changes in the community such as the building of a town hall, provision of water supply and construction of a drainage from Ilomu to Ika in the community to control its erosion problem”.

According to Princess Adepoju Foyeke, she said “her late father, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adepoju Iluku Patrick is the first King of Ilomu Ekiti. My father did not spend a year on the throne, its just few months he spent. This is because the autonomy given to my father and the Ilomu Ekiti Kingdom was October 12th, 2018 and he died February 2nd, 2019”.

Princess Adepoju Foyeke, the Regent of Ilomu Ekiti therefore used the opportunity to pray for the success of the incoming King who has been approved by the government.
