The Oyo state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has been commended for being committed to containing the spread of the novel coronavirus and wellbeing of Oyo State’s residents.

The Caretaker Chairman,  Ibadan South East Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Oluwole Alawode gave this commendation at the official flag-off of the COVID-19 palliative distribution to the people of Ibadan South East Local Government and Ibadan South Local Council Development Area held at Mapo.

The council helmsman maintained that the pro-active measures taken by Engr. Seyi Makinde have reduced the spread of the COVID-19 in the state.

Hon. Alawode, while highlighting some measures taken by the local government and LCDA counterpart to complement state government efforts in controlling the spread of the novel coronavirus in the council area, he stated that the council’s health workers have been trained and retrained to educate the people on causes and prevention of the global pandemic.

He added that various campaign and awareness have been staged, coupled with distribution of nose cover to the people across the local government.

The Chairman stated further that, Mapo hall, offices and market places within the local government and LCDA have been fumigated, while buckets, soap and hand sanitizers were distributed to prevent the spread of the deadly disease.

Hon. Alawode also expressed their determination to work towards the achievement of Governor Seyi Makinde’s four-cardinal point agenda to improve the standard of living of the people in the local government and LCDA and make life more meaningful for them.

The council boss, therefore, solicited support from the governor to give the local government and the secretariat building a befitting facelift as the building turns forty years on March this year (2020).

In his response, the governor, who was represented by the Chairman, Oyo State Transport Company, Hon. Dare Adeleke, enjoined the people of Ibadan South East and LCDA not to relent in their prayer and support to bring an end to the coronavirus in the state.

He promised that the present administration in the state will continue to bring succor to the entire citizens through various developmental programmes.

In her own remarks, the Caretaker, Ibadan South LCDA, Hon. Alhaja Kehinde Ajoke Eboda appreciated the support of the party leaders, members and citizen of the state since inception of the administration.

Among dignitaries in attendance were former chairmen of the council, Hon. Yahyah Akinbile, Hon. Abiodun Adedoja (Ekolo) and Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, who is also the Special Adviser to the governor on Culture and Tourism.
