Sen. Olufemi Lanlehin, a former governorship candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) has joined other great Nigerians to mourn the demise of former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

He expressed sadness at the demise of the politician in a statement he issued to newsmen on Friday in Ibadan.

Ajimobi died at First Cardiology Hospital in Lagos following complications arising from coronavirus (COVID-19) and other ailments.

Lanlehin noted that Ajimobi was a former senator, a true patriot, statesman and democrat, adding that indeed, Ibadan, Oyo State, and Nigeria had lost one of its leading lights, intellectuals and colourful personalities, whose void would be somewhat difficult to fill.

“Ajimobi’s footprints is already reserved in the sands of Oyo State, not only as the first to serve two terms, which earned him the sobriquet Koseleri, but also as one who had the empathy, courage and charisma the exalted office of governor truly demanded.

“Right from his first term, he displayed the uncommon courage to take very hard decisions, not hiding behind any populist agenda. That didn’t prevent him from getting re-elected,” Lanlehin said.

Lanlehin prayed that Almighty Allah grant the repose of Ajimobi, and and also gift him Aljanna Firdaus.

He commiserated with the illustrious Ajimobi family of Ojaa’ba, especially former first lady, Florence, his children, and members the All Progressives Congress (APC), on the platform he served as a two-term governor.”

Lanlehin equally prayed God to grant Ajimobi’s family, friends and well wishers the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
