Following the Appeal court judgement on the case of ALGON vs Oyo State Government delivered in Ibadan on Wednesday, 15th July 2020, the Oyo state All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in the 2019 General elections, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has appealed to all APC members not to feel depressed or discouraged by the unfavorable court judgement.
He encouraged them to rather rally support for ALGON towards ensuring superior hearing at the highest court in the land and guarantee victory for the party.
Adelabu stated that he was amazed at the outcome of this case as delivered, by the presiding judge, because given all the facts presented to the court and the precedents cited by the counsels during the hearing, victory for ALGON was expected and almost assured. He however expressed hope that the Supreme court will correct this injustice and rape of our constitutional democracy. He made this known through a release by one of his Media Aids, Comrade Femi Awogboro in Ibadan on Wednesday.
In his words “it is true that the judgement was disappointing and unexpected, we should not be depressed by this, rather we should unite as a party more than ever before and rally support, morally and financially, for ALGON to ensure we have sound representation at the Supreme court to guarantee victory for our party.
“This case should not be seen as that of ALGON alone but a case to be taken up by every constitutional democracy loving member of our party and the general public to ensure that the rule of law prevails. I’m excited at developments and reactions within our party following this judgement as critical stakeholders within the party are now showing unwavering interest in pushing this case forward. I’m appealing to all and sundry to let us use this platform to unite all members and fight this case with unity of purpose and as a common cause to the end. I see light at the end of the tunnel”
He also used the opportunity to appeal to party leadership to immediately summon a stakeholders meeting on the next step as soon as the lawyers review and interpretation of the judgement is concluded. He said that evil can only prevail when the righteous are quiet. He therefore promised to reach out to other critical stakeholders to rally support for ALGON.
