Nigeria’s Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi is a sad man because for the first time in three season the  Leicester City playmaker will miss out as the English Premier League top tackler.

The former Genk player, who won the top tackler prize in his first full season in the Premier League, 2017-2018 and retained it the following season, narrowly missed the award to Manchester United star Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Wan-Bissaka, who joined the Old Trafford side from Crystal Palace, was labelled ‘rubber’ by his teammate at the Red Devils because of his flexible waist and tackling skills.

Wan-Bissaka, who played 35 games in the recently concluded campaign, three more than Ndidi, and spent 397 more minutes on the pitch than the Nigerian, finished the season with 129 tackles whereas Ndidi, his closest challenger for the award, racked up 128 tackles.

Ndidi averaged 4 tackles per game, Wan-Bissaka made 3.7 tackles per game, bettered by only one Premier League player in Ricardo Pereira who averaged 4.3 tackles per game.
