Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has vowed to win trophies with his new club, Napoli in his maiden season with the Italian club.
The former French Ligue 1 side, Lille top scorer, who joined the Naples based outfit with a record €70 million, said he is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Napoli greats such as Diego Maradona, Edinson Cavani and Gonzalo Higuaín, to create a history with the club.
“I hope that I will take this step further. It is a step that gives me the chance to become part of the history of Naples.
“There have been greats here like Maradona, Cavani, Higuain.
“We’ll be in Europe next season. I want to help the club do well in this competition and in the league too,” Osimhen, who won the 2019/20 Marc-Vivien Foé award for the best African player in France’s top football league, Ligue 1 said.
The former Wolfsburg player, who scored 18 goals in 38 appearances for Lille in the 2019-20 season, will be eligible to represent Napoli in the Europa League, Serie A and Coppa Italia in the upcoming season.
Osimhen has been allocated Napoli’s number 9 jersey previously worn by Argentina star Higuain.
