This week’s edition of Globacom-sponsored CNN African Voices Changemakers, will celebrate new generation Nigerian musician, Oluwatosin Ajibade, better known as Mr. Eazi.

Mr. Eazi is a songwriter and wave-making singer, born on July 19th, 1991, in Port Harcourt. He read Mechanical Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana, but has never really practised as an engineer. He discovered his love for music in the university in 2012 and released a single, “Pipi Dance”.

The effort attracted massive attention from music lovers, especially the young generation. This was to lead to more high-profile recordings for him, including, “Skin Tight” in which he featured Efya in 2015.

More collaborations were to follow in quick succession. High-flying musicians he has worked with include Ghanaian R&B star, Sarkodie;  Lil Kesh  and Burna Boy.

Mr. Eazi, in 2017, released the mixtape, Life Is Eazi, Vol. 1: Accra to Lagos, which featured guest appearances by Big Lean, Tekno, Phyno, DJ Cuppy, and others. The album contained singles like “Leg Over” and “Tilapia”, which became instant hits with music lovers across the African continent.

Mr. Eazi will share some of his experience growing in the music industry in Ghana and Nigeria. He will also talk about how this helped him to midwife Banku music which is a combination of Ghanaian highlife and Nigerian chord progressions and rhythms.
