Monaco’s manager, Niko Kovac, has hailed forward, Henry Onyekuru, as the principality club commence their Ligue 1 season with a clash against Reims on Sunday.

Kovac, who was speaking at a press conference ahead of the game, described Onyekuru as one of the best wingers in France.

“You have certainly seen how we played against AZ (Alkmaar). We played well, we were well prepared to line up in a 4-3-3. But the system is not important to me, it is mainly the attitude of the players that I watch. Henry and Gelson (Martins) bring us work on the wings, we know their qualities. I have confidence in them, and I think we have one of the best pair of wingers in France,” Kovac said.

Onyekuru rejoined Monaco after spending the second half of the 2019/20 season on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray.

He failed to get enough playing time under former manager Leonardo Jardim after joining from Everton in the summer of 2018.

The lack of playing time forced him to join the Turkish side, where he played 10 league games, scoring a goal and providing two assists.
