...Kayode Eyitayo Fajimi...honourable in death...

There are administrators and there are administrators, but some are more vibrant than others. In the same vein, some had the necessary training and exposure and are gifted enough to always deploy their God-given attributes.

This describes the times of Mr Kayode Eyitayo Fajimi who succumbed to the cold hands of death on Thursday, 13 August after a brief illness.

Late Kayode was born on the 14th day of July, 1967 to the family of Pa Adisa Fajimi and Mrs Victoria Olarike Fajimi.

The young Kayode completed his primary school education at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Missionary School, Ilesa in Osun State.  He then proceeded to Government College, Ibadan for his secondary education where he graduated in I983 and 1985 for his Ordinary Level West African School Certificate and the Advanced Level Program respectively.

He later attended the University of Ibadan, where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Anthropology and Masters’ degree in Industrial and Labour Relations.

Until his death, Kayode was the Acting Head of Local Government Administration in the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission.

In separate tributes to celebrate him, colleagues, friends and family spoke glowingly about the influence of his personality, character, and efficiency. He was described as an astute, vibrant and seasoned administrator, a professional per excellence, efficient planner and dependable friend.

Akin Funlayo, Permanent Secretary, Oyo State Local Government Service Commission described the late Kayode as a trailblazer and a reputable administrator who heralded the spirit of professionalism in the Local government system in Oyo State.

Alhaji Bayo Titilola-Sodo, Permanent Secretary Local Government Staff Pension Board described him as a loyal friend who will be greatly missed.

Dr Samuel Adeyemi and Mrs Margaret Iyabo Fajimi described the late Kayode as a friendly personality who was very considerate, and a lover of peace and unity in the family.

Barrister Oluwole Araromi, Kunle Keshiro, Goke Adeyemi, Gbenro Onibokun, Olayinka Agboola, Tunde Olabowale, Muyiwa Ojo and other close friends described the late Ogbomoso-born administrator as a man who fought like a lion but passed away when his services are most needed. They said he was the ‘ultimate’ rallying point for upwardly mobile young men in the South West of Nigeria who passed through both the University of Ibadan and Government College in the same city.

In glowing tribute to her husband, the wife, Dr. Chisom Fajimi described her late husband as a reliable and lovely man, responsible father and a bridge builder who gave his life for worthy cause among many other things during his short time on earth. She described him as a fighter and courageous person who was not limited by the challenges life threw at him but would always pick up himself with high confidence.

The late Administrator was interred at the St. James Cathedral cemetery Ibadan after a funeral service was held for him at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Jesus Assembly, Oke Bola Ibadan.
