“With what I have seen so far during my sojourn to monitor this election, I will say Nigerian electorates are becoming more matured which is a good development for our democracy. Although there were pockets of violent cases which I think was inevitable, but they were very low, voters conducted themselves in good manners in most places we have been to, as you can see me interviewing people I met here what they’re waiting for and they said they were peacefully waiting for their votes to be counted before leaving, I think this is commendable of them”, Okoye noted.

He added that “the police have done very well in securing the peaceful execution of this election as you can see that the soldiers are only placed at the entrances of towns and cities but Police are the ones manning the polling units and they have performed wonderfully well in ensuring this exercise goes smoothly”.

The DIG, however, reiterated that everyone arrested for violent conduct during the election or caught with articles that contravened the electoral acts and processes will be duly prosecuted as soon as possible.
