Members of the Amalgamated Commercial Tricycle And Motorcycle, Owners, Repairs And Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN) in Oyo State have agreed to the state government’s proposal on registration and data collection for riders in the state.

The association also used the opportunity to debunk the involvement of its members in the present security challenges in Oyo State.

The Chairman of the association, Comrade Olugbode Solomon made the disclosure during the week while briefing journalists on the need for stakeholders to synergize with government to address the issue of insecurity.

According to Comrade Olugbode, “I want to call on Ministry of Transportation, Oyo State Road Traffic Maintenance Agency (OYRTMA), security agencies and other relevant stakeholders in Oyo State to let us synergize to strategize and sanitize okada/tricycle operation in the state.

“The issue of registration and data collection of each rider is a must at this time when okada and tricycle operation is becoming uncontrolable and threat to security,” he said.

Solomon disclosed that both riders and passengers are victims of hoodlums using motorcycles to perpetrate criminal acts.

The association, therefore, appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde to stop the motorists and park managers from meddling into the affairs of tricycle and motorcycle operators in Oyo State.

“The members of ACOMORAN are well informed and ready to cooperate with government, but many of our parks were forcefully and violently taken over with our members being molested by motorists and NURTW then. We thought the situation would change under the present Park Management System being led by Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, but the situation has not changed.

“We, therefore, plead with government to intervene and stop the motorists and park managers from meddling into the affairs of motorcycle and tricycle operation in Oyo State,” Comrade Olugbode Solomon said.

The ACOMORAN Chairman, while assuring the readiness of his members to continue to cooperate with the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, lauded him for massive infrastructural development he is carrying out in the state.
