An okada-rider identified as Afuye on Tuesday evening lost his life in an armed robbery attack at the Baba Sala area, Leventis, Sango in Ibadan North Local Council of Oyo State, when a two-man robbery gang snatched his motorbike at a gunpoint.

He was said to have resisted when his motorbike was snatched from him.

Afuye, who was seen in a pool of his own blood after being shot while struggling with the robbers that attacked him few meters to his resident located around Ajegunle, Leventis according to an eye-witness account, gave up the ghost immediately.

“He was struggling with two men that accosted him with another motorbike after one of them overpowered him and collected his motorbike, he ran after them and raised alarm, it was at that point one of the robbers brought out gun and shot at him at a close range”, said someone who was at the scene of crime.

The robbers eventually abandoned the motorbike beside the Oando Filling Station opposite Old Leventis store, probably because of complication that arose from the engine of the motorbike.

A friend of the deceased who identified himself as Akeem said Afuye was just coming from Ogunpa, Ibadan where he sells rubber footwear, but at times uses the motorbike for commercial purposes to make ends meet.

Akeem also added that “the wife of the deceased is presently pregnant and that’s was why we cannot inform her as we saw her phone call coming-in into the phone recovered from the lifeless body of Afuye moments after his death”.
