The Organised Labour in Ekiti State has taken its protest to the Ekiti State House of Assembly Complex in Ado Ekiti in order to press home their demand for the reinstatement of 21 workers sacked under the guise of staff auditing.

The protesters, led by Comrade Gbenga Olowoyo, the Ekiti State Secretary of the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), arriving at the Ekiti State Assembly Complex said “the workers were unjustly dismissed from the Service of the State.

He said the dismissed staff members have been on biometric payroll system since 2011.

“We are not saying the Commission cannot Audit its staff, but it has to be in a rightful way without hurting the innocent. The affected workers are indigenes of Ekiti State, working so hard to build up their careers and we won’t allow the Commission to destroy us, all in the name of playing politics. All the Civil Servants are going to fight this fight to the end. We are not afraid of them”.

Gbenga Olowoyo urged the commission to do the needful, by allowing the 21 affected workers to return to work.

It was, however, not clear if the Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, Rt Hon Funminiyi Afuye was around to attend to the protesters.
