Popular media mogul and businessman, Basorun Dele Momodu has strongly admonished Yoruba monarchs to stop paying frivolous visits to the different Governors’ offices and Government Houses including the Presidential Villa.

As far as Momodu is concerned, it is these (nocturnal) visits that has dangerously eroded the powers and influences of these great traditional leaders.

The popular columnist gave this submission during the week while chatting live with his followers on the social media.

Said the Publisher of Ovation International Magazine “Our traditional rulers must respect themselves. They should allow the governors to pay them visits. Frivolous appearances at Government Houses by these our fathers must stop. Dear friends, as you are listening to me and watching me live, please tell somebody to tell others until this message gets to our traditional rulers.

“We all look up to our traditional rulers for support and guidance. They should not cheapen themselves again.”

Momodu went further to give the example of what he used to witness in the 70s and 80s.

“You see, my late mother used to run a beer palour opposite the Palace of the Ooni of Ife in those days. I was not told, I witnessed it when different governors used to visit the Ooni to seek for direction and tap from his well of wisdom. I used to see then Colonels David Jemibewon and Oladayo Popoola. The Ooni used to host them. So, our present traditional rulers should emulate this.”
