Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State has identified sports development as key to fruitful engagement of the teeming youths in the state.
He assured his commitment to the development of sports in the state, particularly the state-owned Idanre Golf course.
Governor Akeredolu said all efforts to develop the Idanre golf course in his first term were hindered by paucity of fund, pledging his administration’s commitment to developing it in his second term.
The Governor spoke at the presentation of trophies to the winners of the ‘Aketi 2nd Term Inauguration Golf Tournament’ held within the premises of Ilara-Mokin Smokin hills golf course recently.
The event was put together and sponsored by ‘friends of Aketi’.
Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman of the Aketi 2021 Golf Tournament, Rear Admiral Sanmi Alade (Rtd) stated that the tournament wouldn’t have been held but for the proactive approach of the Governor in fighting Crimes in the state.
Alade who described the Governor as a fearless and honest man said he possessed rare qualities which have made him a rallying point for the progressives.

The captain of the golf course, Engr. Gboye Adegbenro said Governor Akeredolu is piloting the affairs of the state to a greater height.
The Governor was accompanied to the event by the the Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Gbenga Ale and other eminent personalities.
