The Ekiti State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Fr. Peter Abiodun Olowolafe who also doubles as the Parish Priest of St. Paul Catholic Church, Omuo Ekiti has cautioned politicians and asked them to be more civil and calm during election period.

He, however, cautioned the security agents in the state not to take sides with any political party while urging them to be more apolitical in the course of carrying out their duties.

The CAN Chairman in Ekiti State gave the advice while fielding questions from PMParrot at his residence in Omuo Ekiti recently.

He, however, urged politicians in the state to see life as sacred and a gift from God that should not be wasted under any situation.

Rev Fr. Olowolafe maintained that “for no reason must any life be taken because of a bye election.

“If because of a bye-election, we lost four lives, what about the coming year that we are preparing for another gubernatorial election in the state and the forthcoming general elections in the country in 2023?  He stated.

He equally commended the effort of the Governor of the State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi for visiting Omuo Ekiti and paying a condolence visit to give the people the needed moral support especially during the time of crisis.

He advised the government to always ensure that there is adequate security during elections while charging the youths to always act responsibly during election time adding that they should resist any attempt to be used by desperate politicians for their own selfish purposes.

He called on all Christian leaders and Pastors to continue to pray for unity and peace as the insecurity issues in the state is becoming more alarming and devastating by the day while urging them not to feel disappointed because of the present situation in the country.

The Ekiti CAN Chairman equally urged Ministers of God to continue to preach the message of hope and love especially as Christians prepare to celebrate another Easter.

“Time of Easter is the time of renewed hope and faith for all individuals”, he concluded.
