The Ekiti State Chapter of the Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) recently celebrated the year 2021 World Theatre Day while honouring distinguished personalities with ambassadorial awards for their immense contribution to the success of the association in Ado Ekiti.

Ekiti TAMPAN Chairman, Comrade Ehinafe Eniola, stated that he took up the leadership role of the association to enable him take the association to a greater height.

He stated “Theatre Arts practitioners are not mediocre but are now professionals in their chosen professions”.

Speaking, the Chief of Staff to TAMPAN Global President, Prince Banji Adelusi who spoke on behalf of the National President of the association, Otunba Bolaji Amusan (Baba Latin), expressed his profound appreciation to the members of the association for their unwavering support in moving the association forward.

Amusan, however, assured the members of the association that an end has come to the issue of perennial conflicts and fighting in the association while assuring Ekiti TAMPAN members of the adequate support from the National body in ensuring that Theatre Arts wax stronger in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated Ekiti TAMPAN Ambassadors, Chief Dr. Sherrif Sanusi, the Olu-Asiri Iran Lagba Worldwide President, expressed his profound appreciation to Ekiti TAMPAN for the Ambassadorial positions bestowed upon him while promising his continual support to the association.

Chief Sanusi therefore advised the Theatre Arts Practitioners to stop producing films that tend to promote criminal activities in the society.

“Theatre Practitioners should not do things that can destroy the country and our society. They should stop acting films where they use guns to kill people. They should stop staging plays where people drink to stupor and live flamboyantly without commensurable hard work.

Such lifestyles and attitudes are too many and too much in our society of today. Such attitudes are aiding and helping to destroy our society. I am using this opportunity to appeal to TAMPAN to put this attitude to an end among its members”.

The Senior Special Assistant on labour matters to Governor Kayode Fayemi, Chief Oluyemi Esan commended the Ekiti TAMPAN for the well organised award ceremony while urging them to continue to take efforts that will help to promote the good image of the association in the state.

He, therefore, counselled TAMPAN leadership in the state to work harder to sustain and build more on the solid footing they have started with. “TAMPAN has started on a very solid footing in Ekiti state and its presence in the state is going to translate into so many things and the benefits will be of immense advantage to the entire people of Ekiti State”.

He also expressed the readiness and preparedness of the Ekiti State government ahead of the National festival of Arts and Culture to be hosted by Ekiti State later in the year.

Awards were given to the likes of Chief Oluyemi Esan, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ekiti State on labour matters; Aare Muyiwa Olumilua, the Honourable Commissioner for Trade and Investment in Ekiti State; Otunba Kayode Fasae, the Director General of Ekiti State Micro – Credit Agency; Dr. Sherrif Sanusi among others.
