A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedapo Lam-Adesina has warned the presidency to wake up from its slumber and live up to its responsibility of addressing the security situation of the country.

The son of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Alh. Lamidi Adesina and Commissioner for Industry, Science & Technology from 2013 to 2014 and also Commissioner for Youth & Sports commissioner under the Abiola Ajimobi administration revealed this while featuring on a current affairs program on Fresh FM Ibadan on Saturday where he explained the reason behind his recent decision to rejoin All Progressive Congress (APC).

He left APC to join African Democratic Congress, (ADC) where he contested and lost his bid to return as Federal representative of Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency in 2019 general election.

Dapo Lam who spoke more like a statesman than a politician expressed dismay over the present insecurity in the country which he said is enough for the federal government to have declared a state of emergency in the security sector of Nigeria.

His words: “This is not the time to be playing politics, and if anyone comes to you, speaking politics or politicking, he should be stoned because this is not the time to be discussing politics but for all to work together to salvage this country from this imminent collapse and disintegration.

“I am not happy being called a member of the ruling party now and that is why I’m going to call on the President to wake up from slumber and face his responsibility of securing the lives of Nigerian citizens, the killing and maiming of people in almost every state of our country is heartbreaking.

“President Nigeria needs to work harder. He dares not leave Nigeria like this. I am an optimist. I believe he will do his best. I know he cannot leave Nigeria like this. If he does, he will spoil APC’s chances during next elections and there are so many people who wish to use that platform.

He added that, “I am happy to be back to the APC. For me, it is a great homecoming. Like I have said, I have told our leaders, who spoke to me let us address our problems once and for all. I decided to return to APC because of the respect I have for those who visited me and persuaded me to return. I had to honour them.

“For now, I love the peace I am enjoying. I do not need to recontest or seek posts if I am sure competent people are representing us. All of us cannot be there.

“I will also urge our professionals, our professors and other educated Nigerians to join politics so that we can have round pegs in round holes.”
