Children’s Day: Ekiti Government Reiterates Commitment To Protection, Welfare Of Children

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Alhaja Maryam Ogunlade has reiterated the commitment of the Dr. Kayode Fayemi led-government to the protection of children’s rights in the state as the world marks the year 2021 International Children’s Day.

Alhaja Ogunlade revealed this in a statement made available to PMParrot on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti and she stressed that the body language and policies of the state government from inception indicated its determination to guarantee the welfare of children in the state.

She, however, reaffirmed that the state government has made education free and compulsory to the senior secondary school level in the state and the provision of conducive teaching and learning environment in all schools across the state.

According to her, the enforcement of the state’s child rights law being championed by the wife of the Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi is in cognizance of the fact that children are the future of the nation and should therefore be given solid upbringing and foundation.

Ogunlade further appealed to parents to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the state government to better the lots of their children stressing the need for them to avoid acts that may be inimical to the general wellbeing of their children.

She, however, charged Ekiti school students to be focused on their studies, while encouraging them on the need to shun vices that may be detrimental to their progress.
