Amid fun and fanfare, the Senior Special Assistant to the Oyo State Governor on Diaspora Matters, Hon. Bolanle Sarumi Aliyu was on Thursday installed as the Life Patroness of the Nigeria Beautician and Hairdressers Association Oyo State.

The award and installation ceremony was part of the 40th anniversary of the association which was founded in the year 1981.

While presenting the award, the Founder of the association, Chief (Mrs) Olubunmi Adesanya explained that Hon. Sarumi was made the life Patroness of the association in appreciation of her immense financial and moral contributions towards the development and growth of the association in the State.

Chief Mrs Adesanya specifically commended Hon. Sarumi for the efforts she put in place in ensuring the success of Thursday’s event and the two hair drying machines she donated for members of the association.

According to her, “my daughter Bolanle Sarumi has been doing a lot to put smiles in the faces of the people and I’m not surprised about her gesture. She is emulating the kind gesture of her father who was known for good things as a politician with Midas touch.

“Apart from her financial contribution to today’s programme, she also donated two sets of hair drying machines to us and has also promised to continue to give our association one hair dryer every month till eternity.  This gesture is quite amazing and commendable because we have never seen anything like this in our 40 years of existence.

“In view of this, the founder, members of the executives and the entire members of this noble association have unanimously agreed to have you as the Life Patroness of this association.”

In her remark, Hon. Bolanle Sarumi Aliyu hinted that she decided to identify and associate with NBHA so as to give back to the association which has benefited her a lot.

She recalled that she used to make a lot of money from plaiting hair for foreigners while in the United Kingdom about 20 years ago, therefore, she has no alternative than to give back to the association so as to serve as motivation for others in the trade that hard work pays in everything one is doing.

While appreciating members of the association for the honour bestowed on her, Hon. Sarumi hinted that apart from the monthly donation of one hair dryer she has promised, she would also be part of any programme the association is doing in the future.

Hon. Sarumi urged members of the association to continue to give more support to Engr Seyi Makinde’s administration in order to ensure its success and continuity of good governance in the State.

Hon. Sarumi Aliyu was honoured alongside Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, Special Adviser to the Governor on Culture and Tourism, Alhaja Bosede Adedibu, PDP South West Women Leader, the Babaloja General of Oyo State, Alhaji Y.K. Abass, High Chief Solomon Ojedayo, Chairman/CEO of Top One Garden, Podo, Ibadan and Alhaja Ronke Oyinade Alubarika.
