Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South West Women Leader, Alhaja Abosede Adedibu has said that she will use her position to ensure that 35 percent slots allocated to women in all political appointments and elected positions are given to them in order to let them have sense of belonging in the scheme of things in the party.
She stated this while speaking with Parrot Xtra at her Molete residence on the recently conducted local government election in Oyo State.
It would be recalled that the local government elections were held across the 33 local government areas in Oyo State on the 22nd May, 2021. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recorded a landslide victory.
Speaking further, the Yeyelua of Ibadanland, Alhaja Bosede Adedibu stressed that as women’s leader, her plan for the women is very high. “There’s going to be a massive change in the lives of women because we are going to make use of our 35% from ward level to the national level. With the help of God and Engineer Seyi Makinde, our leader in the south west here, we will enjoy the party more.
“We are going to sensitize on how women should partake in government, how not to shy away from their responsibilities and how not to sit at the back in any event they are being involved in.”
Speaking on the All Progressives Congress (APC) which happened to be the main opposition party in the State that did not participate in the local election, Alhaja Adedibu hinted that the said election was free, fair and credible despite the failure of APC to participate, stressing that the Oyo State Independent Election Commission (OYSIEC) gave all political parties equal opportunities and enough time, therefore, the APC has no genuine reason for boycotting the election.
On the crisis that rocked the party in the State, Alhaja Bose Adedibu expressed optimistic that with the reconciliation efforts embarked upon by the South West executives led by Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, every rift would have been settled by the end of the year 2021.
