Nigeria international Taiwo Awoniyi’s future at Liverpool is not safe despite being granted a work permit ahead of the 2021-2022 season, according to reports in the English press.

The former Flying Eagles striker and Nigerian Football Federation target, Sheyi Ojo are among the nine players placed on the transfer market by Liverpool to make funds available to secure their summer targets.

Awoniyi is valued at eight million pounds by Liverpool and has been linked with possible moves to Championship clubs Stoke City, West Brom and Fulham.

Since joining Liverpool six years ago, the 2013 U17 World Cup winner has taken in loan spells at FSV Frankfurt, NEC Nijmegen, Royal Excel Mouscron, KAA Gent, Mainz 05 and Union Berlin.

Awoniyi has two years to run on his contract with The Reds, having signed a contract extension back in 2018.

Academy product Ojo spent the 2020-2021 campaign on loan at Cardiff City after previous loan stints at Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham, Reims and Glasgow Rangers.

Liverpool are looking to raise in excess of £60 million from players’ sales in the summer transfer window.
