The Ekiti State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) has tasked the Governments of Ekiti and Ondo States over their continuous failure to fix the deplorable road linking Ado Ekiti with Akure.
This message to the two government was sent in a statement by Comrade Kayode Babatuyi, the State Secretary of the Ekiti NUJ after the July 2021 monthly congress of the council recently in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
The Union, however, frowned at the lackadaisical attitude of the governments of the two states for failing to fix the roads over the years while urging them to do the needful in order to reduce incessant criminal activities on the road.
The Union equally reminded the Ekiti state government on the need to ensure proper implementation of town planning rules and regulations and strict adherence to the precautionary steps required to avert cases of flooding in the state as predicted by NIMET.
It further commended the Ekiti state government towards its efforts in revitalizing the health sector of the state while urging the state government to take drastic measures in ensuring that the industrial dispute in some of the health facilities in the state are resolved.
The Ekiti NUJ Congress, however, advised the Dr Kayode Fayemi-led government in the state to set up a task force to regulate the prices of foodstuffs and other commodities while ensuring that farmers in the state are empowered through provision of soft loans in order to guarantee food security in the state.
