Two days after he collapsed in a Ligue1 clash versus Olympique Marseille at the Stade Velodrome, Bordeaux winger Samuel Kalu has said he is now fine and would return to training.

The Nigeria international collapsed just six minutes into the game in a fully packed stadium and gave the fans, who are yet to get over the collapse of Denmark’s Christian Eriksen at the Euro 2020, a scare.

After a few heart-stopping minutes, Kalu managed to stand up and resumed play for few minutes before he was substituted and replaced by Remi Oudin.

Speaking with PUNCH Sports Extra from his France base on Tuesday, Kalu gave a full account of what happened, but assured that he was fine.

He said, “There were about 90,000 fans in the stadium and there was no air.

“We were just a little bit into the game and I felt like my eyes were turning me, I had to cover my face with my hand and I went down. Though I was okay and I was able to continue the game after.”

He added, “I will be returning to training tomorrow (Wednesday).”

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, also said the former Gent star was okay and would be available for the country’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers next month.

“All his medicals, cardio and vitals are hundred per cent okay and he will be invited for the (World Cup) qualifiers next month,” Pinnick told PUNCH Sports Extra.
