COVID-19: Fayemi’s Govt Gets 46,000 Doses Of Moderna Vaccines

Dr Kayode Fayemi’s government in Ekiti State has received 46,000 doses of Moderna Covid-19 Vaccines from the Federal Government.

The State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Oyebanji Filani who made this known at a press conference in Ado-Ekiti, said that the State Government would commence the Vaccination exercise soon in line with the guidelines laid down by the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency at all the designated centres across the States.

Dr. Filani explained that the second phase Vaccination was a continuation of the exercise that was kick started by Governor Kayode Fayemi on Wednesday 10th of March, 2021.

He reiterated the commitment of the State Government to ensuring that all residents have unfettered access to the vaccines adding that the state would continue to invest in and access safe and effective vaccines.

Highlighting State Government’s interventions and efforts to curtail the Corona Virus to include establishment of Molecular Laboratory, the use of Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDTs) for testing as well as the establishment of Emergency Operation Centres (EOC) in all the 16 Local Government Areas and expansion of sample collection centers, Filani assured that the Government would continue leave no stone unturned towards ensuring the safety of all and sundry in the State.

“We currently have over 145 decentralized testing centres across the state which is the highest in the country and this has scaled up our testing capacity with an average of 400 persons tested per day in July in the 16 Local Government Areas in the State”. He hinted.

Filani advised residents of the state to take the advantage of government’s gesture to get vaccinated, stressing that getting immunized remains the most effective way to curtail the virus.

The Health Commissioner explained that the moderna vaccines are for eligible residents that haven’t received any jabs of COVID-19, stressing that anyone who has received the first dose of Astra- Zeneca vaccines should wait for the second dose that would arrive soon.

He also appealed to members of the public to adhere to necessary safety measures against contrasting the deadly virus which is ravaging the human population across the world.
