All Set For Fayemi’s Govt To Partner ABUAD On Health Care Service Delivery

Dr Kayode Fayemi’s government in Ekiti State has disclosed plans to partner with Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) Multi System Teaching Hospital as part of its effort to provide quality healthcare service delivery in the state.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health and Human Services Mr. Akinjide Akinleye who stated this while inspecting some of the newly acquired state of the art equipment at the Multi-System Teaching Hospitals, stressed the commitment of the Fayemi-led administration to ensuring preventable deaths in the state.

He added that the government has commenced massive renovation of both primary and secondary health facilities across the state and has also procured state of the art medical equipment for the facilities.

The Permanent Secretary however stressed the need for Covid-19 test on patients with cough, catarrh and fever particularly in private health facilities, to know their status adding that patients that test positive for Covid-19 should be immediately referred to designated isolation centers for further examination and treatment.

According to him, the state is looking forward to partnering with hospital in areas of human resources, Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for collection, processing and storage of data, blood transfusion, storage and management as well as training of staff among other areas.

He commended the founder, Aare Afe Babalola for his philanthropic gesture and immense contribution to humanity through huge investment in education and health care.

The Chief Medical Director of the ABUAD Multi System Teaching Hospital Dr. Kolawole Ogundipe noted that the hospital has handled serious health situations that many people believed could not have be done in Nigeria even at lower cost.

Dr. Ogundipe noted that the vision of the founder was to make the hospital one of the best hospitals in the world, stressing that the Hospital has grown organically since its inception to meet the expectations of the host community, Ekiti residents and Nigeria at large.

The CMD advised Ekiti residents to make medical check a regular exercise, adding that ABUAD hospital would do it for interested persons at subsidized cost which he noted has been the hallmark of the hospital and the founder.

In a related development, the State Commissioner for health and Human Services,  Dr. Oyebanji Filani has said that the Fayemi led administration deserved accolades for attracting numerous interventions and supports to the state health sector which has improved healthcare service delivery across in the state.

Speaking during an interactive session with stakeholders in the Health sector to commemorate his one year as the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Filani assured people in the State of more interventions and supports from partners and international donors that would further enhance better healthcare and service delivery.

Soliciting the continued support of all stakeholders for Government’s effort at making the Health sector a model amongst its counterpart across the nation, Filani assured that the administration would not relent efforts at ensuring quality, affordable and accessible healthcare delivery in the State.
