There may be plans by Napoli to sign Simeon Nwankwo as cover for fellow Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, according to the sports director of Italian club Crotone.
Crotone director, Giuseppe Ursino said Napoli through former coach Gennaro Gattuso wanted to sign ‘Simy’ as a deputy for Osimhen during the past transfer window.
“Napoli also asked us for ‘Simy’ as deputy for Osimhen,” Ursino told Radio Kiss Kiss.
“Gattuso was then on the bench (Napoli coach). But Gattuso left and we didn’t get anything done.”
‘Simy’ netted 20 goals in Serie A last season.
However, that was not enough to keep Crotone in the Italian top flight.
He is now on loan with option to buy at newly promoted Serie A club Salernitana.
