Ekiti Govt To NYSC Members: Now’s Time To Key Into SDGs Goals

The Senior Special Assistant to Ekiti State Governor on Sustainable Development Goals, Mrs. Abimbola Solanke has charged participants in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ekiti State to key into the 17 SDGs towards enhancing its impact on their host communities.

Speaking during a sensitization programme for the Batch B Stream 2 Corps members at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Emure/Ise-Orun Ekiti, Mrs. Solanke who was represented by the Director of Programme (SDGs), Mr. Ogunlade Olusola noted that SDGs goals remained a global agenda and an initiative that should leave no one behind.

According to her, Sustainable Development is about making sure that everyone in the society enjoys a decent and quality life, adding that the same opportunity should also be passed-on to the coming generation.

Highlighting the expected roles of Corps members in effective actualization of the SDGs goals, Ogunlade said the youth group could assist in localization of SDGs agenda by implementing them at their various communities of primary assignment.

She enjoined them to be active and acquaint themselves with the SGDs goals and as well explore the various potentials embedded in them at improving the standard of living in their host communities by 2030.

In his remarks, the Deputy Director of Programmes, Sustainable Development Goals office, Mr. Oludare Imole stressed the need for passion as an essential driving force to achieving the SDGs goals, adding that Corps members should identify areas where they could impact positively on the people of their host communities to better their life.

Mr. Oludare advised the Corp members to join any SDGs Community Developments Service (CDS) Group in their areas of primary assignments, stressing the need for them to consult the nearest SDGs offices for partnership and proper mentorship.
