Confusion and anguish reigned at the El-Adonai Evangelical Ministry (Aladura), Lagos following the electrocution of six members of the Church and the pastor has now reportedly taken to his heels.

The church members were electrocuted on Sunday in the Abule-Egba area of the state.

Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in the Southwest, Ibrahim Farinloye confirmed the incident.

Segun Onilude, a member of the church, said the incident happened amid preparations for the church’s end-of-year celebrations.

“We came to church early to ensure that the church was adorned beautifully. The church flag was old and tattered and needed to be changed.

“We suddenly heard a noise outside and rushed out only to see two of our members shaking and foaming. Two other members who tried to push them away from the electric cable got electrocuted,” Onilude said.

Another two who had contact with the live pole were also electrocuted.

General Manager, State Fire Service, Adeseye Margaret confirmed that six persons died in the incident.

The pastor of the church could not be reached as he was said to have fled since the incident.
