Oyetola Witnesses OSCOTECH Convocation, Says He Penciled Down N26b To Be Spent On Education In 2022 Budget

The Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola has announced that over N26 billion was allocated to the education sector in the 2022 budget proposal he just sent to the state’s House of Assembly.

The Governor stated this during the 7th combined convocation ceremony for the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 graduating session of the Osun State College of Technology, Esa – Oke on Tuesday.

The Governor charged the new graduates to look inward for their inborn talents and combine it with their characters, knowledge and entrepreneurship skills acquired in the institution in order to excel in the larger society and become good ambassadors.

He further charged the Alumni body of the college to align themselves with the positive activities and changes taking place in the institution.

He, however, charged various institutions in the country to fight against unemployment by ensuring the re-tooling and re-engineering of their curriculums with entrepreneurship in order to raise the next generation of problem – solving and self – reliant graduates.

Speaking, the Rector of the college, Dr. Samson Omobayo Adegoke announced the approval of eleven new courses by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) which include  Photographic Technology, Multimedia Technology, Arts and Designs, Computer Engineering, Taxation, Marketing, Office Technology and Management, Agricultural Technology, Library and Information Science, HND options in SLT in Environmental Biology and Biochemistry.

The Rector further stated that Miss Ayorinde Deborah Motunrayo from the Department of Computer Science emerged as the overall best with a CGPA of 3.96 for the 2020/2021 academic session while Hammed Subuanallai Najeemudeen from the department of Applied Chemistry with a CGPA of 3.84 emerged as the best in the 2019/2020 session in the HND category.

Further, Aliyu Yusuf Ayobami from the Department of Computer Science graduated with a CGPA of 3.77 while Olasunkanmi Kabirat Olamiposi from the Department of Library and Information Science graduated with a CGPA of 3.74 at the Diploma level for the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 session respectively.

Reacting, the best graduating student of the college, Miss Ayorinde Deborah Motunrayo charged the graduating students to remain focused in life after their graduation and to leverage on the learning and skills they have gained while studying in the school.
