The Ekiti State Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, Comrade Oke Emmanuel has scored the state Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi very high on his performance in the educational sector in the state.
The Ekiti NUT boss stated this recently while interacting with PMParrot in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State Capital on his activities since his assumption in office.
He stated that the state government has been able to maintain the regular payment of workers and teachers’ salaries in the state as at when due while commending the governor for implementing a free and compulsory education from the primary to the secondary schools’ level with a clear departure from the previous administration in the state who introduced compulsory child tax on the indigent students of the state.
He further commended the unprecedented commitment of the Governor to providing furniture and stationery items to all the primary and secondary schools in the state as well as ensuring 100% increase in the budgetary allocations and payments of gratuities to retired teachers.
Comrade Oke equally saluted the Governor for the prompt implementation of teachers’ promotion with a hope that the payment of the full financial benefits would be effected soon.
He listed other achievements of the Governor such as the establishment of model schools, provision of running grants, housing and car loans, recruitment of teachers in both primary and secondary schools in the state, building of perimeter fence across all the schools to combat insecurity among others.
