Guber 2022: Ekiti South Political Stakeholders Caution Fayemi

Eminent stakeholders from the Ekiti South Senatorial district have cautioned the Ekiti state Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi over his perceived move to anoint a preferred candidate ahead of the 2022 gubernatorial election in the state.

This is contained in a statement made available to PMParrot during the week at the Ekiti south conference political summit ahead of the 2022 governorship election in the state.

In a keynote address delivered by Professor Philip Omoniyi Adetiloye,  the group cautioned against the interest of some principal agents working against the interest of the Ekiti south senatorial district in producing the next candidate for the 2022 governorship election in the state.

He further counselled that the number of aspirants contesting from the south senatorial district should be streamlined in order to have a consensus candidate that will boost the chances of the zone in the forthcoming election.

Speaking, a former Speaker and serving member of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Bamisile, stated that the southern senatorial district should be given the chance to produce the next governor of the state.

In his own remark, Professor Bolaji Aluko, a governorship aspirant stated that the motive of the Ekiti southern agenda is not to destabilise the state government while urging stakeholders from the zone not to accept the deputy governorship slot.

In her submission, Senator Biodun Olujimi said, “What we are asking is that all parties’ candidates must emerge from the South. That is when we will know that you have us in mind. What we want is equity, justice and fairness and this is the time justice must be done to the South in the eyes of God and man”.

Prominent politicians at the event included serving member of the House of Representatives, Femi Bamisile; Senator representing Ekiti South, Chief Biodun Olujimi; former Minister of works, Senator Dayo Adeyeye; PDP governorship aspirant, Kayode Adaramodu, former Deputy Governor, Kolapo Eleka, Ex-Speaker, Ekiti State House Assembly, Dr Adewale Omirin, former Acting Governor of the state, Hon Tunji Odeyemi, among others.
