The Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Victor Kiladejo, on Sunday commended the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, for his spirit of continuity and passion for the development of the state.
The monarch particularly lauded Governor Akeredolu for continuing to invest in the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, and the Teaching Hospital.
The Osemawe spoke at the foundation-laying ceremony of Olu Akinkugbe Faculty of Pharmacy at the university.
Stressing that maintaining a teaching hospital and University of medical sciences cost a lot of money, the monarch hailed the commitment and dedication of the Governor to developing the school.
“I thank the Governor for his passion for developing Ondo state. I thank the Governor for his spirit of continuity,” he said.
UNIMED is Nigeria’s first specialized medical university to be accredited by the National Universities Commission.
It was established by the immediate past administration of former Governor Olusegun Mimiko but developed by Governor Akeredolu’s administration.
Under Governor Akeredolu’s administration, 20 postgraduate courses have been accredited, aside from the huge infrastructure that is being put up at the institution and that of the teaching hospital.
