All is set for the hosting of the 20th Bola Ige memorial symposium on Tuesday, 21 December 2021, at the Banquet Hall, Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, by 11am, under the Chairmanship of General Buba Marwa and Chief Akin Olujinmi, SAN.
The symposium tagged ‘Two Decades of Injustice: What are the implications on Nigerian Democracy’ will be delivered by Chief Adeniyi Akintola, SAN, and Dr Olu Agunloye, former Minister for Power and Steel Development while the Chief Host of the day is Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State.
The Special Guest of Honour is President Muhammadu Buhari and the Guests of Honour are Senator Ahmed Lawan, Senate President; Rt. (Hon) Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, the Executive Governor of Osun State and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the Hon. Minister of Interior.
The Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, will deliver the Keynote address for the day while the Principal Hosts are Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, National Leader, All Progressives Congress, Chief Bisi Akande and Rt. (Hon) Mudashiru Obasa, the Hon. Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly.
The late Ige’s children, Architect Muyiwa Ige and Mrs Funso Adegbola are the event’s host and hostess.
According to the spokesperson for the organisers, Awa Bamiji, “the Father and Mother of the day’s event is Chief Michael Koleoso, former Secretary to Oyo State Government and Hon (Justice) Badejoko Adeniji (Rtd), the immediate past Chief Judge of Oyo State.
In addition, the event will be used to kick off advocacy against drug abuse by the Grand Council of Yoruba Youths in conjunction with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and to celebrate eminent Nigerians including Dr Olu Agunloye, former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, among others.
According to the organizers, the lecture will be held with strict adherence to the COVID protocols.
