The former Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olafisoye Akinmoyede (a.k.a. Lafi) has joined other numerous Nigerians to mourn the death of his former boss, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala.

Alao-Akala, died at his residence in Ogbomosho this morning at the age of 71.

Lafisoye who represented Lagelu State constituency in the eighth Oyo House of Assembly said Akala’s death was very painful considering the role he was playing in stabilizing the APC at this crucial period.

He said though Akala wasn’t perfect he tried his best to uplift many people that had contact with him directly or indirectly.

Hon. Lafi who was the Chairman of Lagelu Local Government between 2007 and 2011 noted that Alao-Akala”s tenure as Governor during his 11-month stint when ex-Governor Ladoja was impeached and between 2007 to 2011, was remarkable and full of unprecedented achievements.

He said because former Governor Akala greatly enjoyed the grace of God, he resolved to rule Oyo State with complete fear of God when he served the State as Executive Governor.

Olafisoye added that the late Alao-Akala was a leader who understood the political terrain in Oyo State especially in his hometown, Ogbomoso. His style of politics was ‘live and let’s live’, that was why he was nicknamed “Oyato”. He said.

Hon. Olafisoye while commiserating with the people of Ogbomoso land over the death of their kinsman, he enjoined them not to mourn but rather celebrate by taking solace in the fact that Alao Akala made them proud with the level of development the State witnessed during his tenure and many people he raised.

He thereafter prayed God Almighty to grant him eternal rest and grant his immediate family, the APC family and the state as a whole the needed fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
