A former minister of state for works, Senator Adedayo Adeyeye has formally signified his intention to contest for the Ekiti gubernatorial seat under the auspices of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

Speaking at his campaign office in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, the former senator urged the people of the state to vote massively for him as the candidate of APC in the forthcoming primary election scheduled to hold on January 27, 2022 in the state.

He said, “It is the people of Ekiti state that will decide who will become the governor of Ekiti state. It is very clear that if APC must win this election, the party must pick a very credible candidate. We have a lot of challenges in the party and it can only survive if a very popular candidate is presented in the election.

Prince Adeyeye further stated that a direct mode of primary election is the best option to pick the right candidate while urging the National Assembly to expedite action and present the bill again to President Muhammadu Buhari for his assent.

He, however, chided the Ekiti state governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi for reneging on his promise of zoning the governorship ticket to Ekiti south senatorial district.

The Ekiti born prince further declared his support for the presidential bid of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
