Barely two weeks to the primary election of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti state, (APC) a prominent chieftain of the party, Dr Wole Oluyede has defected along with his supporters to the Action Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking, the former APC chieftain revealed that his decision to defect to ADC was borne out of his desire to actualize his gubernatorial ambition, stating that if elected he will lift the residents of the state out of penury and underdevelopment.
He further stated that the structure of APC in Ekiti state has been polarized, stating that the party is not ready to proffer solutions to the recurring problems affecting the unity of the party.
He said, “Since they are not allowing for truth, equity and fairness to operate in the party, I do not really think I should continue wasting my time as a member of the party”.
He further chided the present leadership of APC in Ekiti State for not allowing democratic processes to operate in the party.
He, however, assured his supporters that ADC will emerge victorious in the governorship election, revealing that he has the political structure, experience, zeal to win the Ekiti governorship election.
Dr Oluyede who hails from Ikere-Ekiti, contested the last governorship election in the state before the latest development.
A close source revealed to PMParrot that the governorship aspirant defected from APC as a result of a preference for an aspirant by a powerful block within the party.
