A former Commissioner for health in Oyo State, Dr Kayode Akintola Afolabi (1982 set) was on Saturday voted in as the next President, Lagelu Grammar School, Ibadan Old Boys’ Association.

He succeeded Justice Adegbola Adeniyi (1981 set) whose two-year tenure ended last week.

The election which held inside the school’s Chief Ayo Labiyi main hall was well attended by old boys of the popular school from far and wide was peaceful.

Other officers elected included: Mr Olawole Ojetola, National Vice President 1, Alhaji Adewale Abass Kadri, National Vice President 2, Adeyemi Badru, General Secretary, Moses Oladele, Assistant General Secretary, Adekunle Adebisi, Treasurer and Tunde Mogboyin, Financial Secretary.

Other elected: Abidoye Abiosun, Public Relations Officer, Israel Ayobami Ogunremi, Assistant Public Relations Officer, Mogaji Abiodun Ejilola, National Welfare Officer, Olukayode Adedeji, Chief Whip, Akinfemi Ogundiran, Auditor and Olufemi Falade, National Social Secretary.

In his message while swearing in the new EXCO, Grand Distinguished Lagetelite Colonel Sir Bola Ogunsanwo (retired) urged the old boys to maintain what he called the ‘Lagelu’ spirit and remain united.

Ogunsanwo, who is also the Chairman of LAGSOBA’s board of trustees also congratulated Lagelu Electoral Commission (LAGECO) members led by Barrister Akeem Agbaje for a job well done especially for allowing members of LAGSOBA in the diaspora to vote online.

The new president, Dr Kayode Afolabi who is presently a Director in the Federal Ministry of Health in Abuja promised to cooperate with all members and welcome new and progressive ideas.
